Dynamic weather has been proven to improve a player’s immersion in video gamesand can be found across a range of video games today. Previous research is focused onindividual weather components and weather phenomena but not at complete integratedfunctioning weather systems. This study aims to fill this gap by combining recent advanceswithin weather simulation in games into one weather system and to evaluate that system’sperformance impact and flexibility.
The study shows that combining different weather components into one dynamic systemis possible and performs well, and offers a rich variable flexibility for the user.
