Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) is a model for collaboration between students, coordinators and researchers at Malmö University. Currently, Canvas is used as the main platform for VIP projects, but it does not really cover all the communication and information management needs required for the collaboration. This study investigates which technical solutions best support the specific needs of VIP collaborations and recommends a better platform. A qualitative, user-centered method is used and thematic analysis is used to interpret the data collected from coordinators, research leaders and students. The results show that there is a clear division between the digital tools and a great need for better mobile adaptation, integration and notification functions. Based on the needs of the users, it pointed out that Microsoft tools (Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive) are the best solution.
