Technology Acceptance in Retail : A Qualitative Study on Store Employees’Experiences of RFID Technology (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Digitalisation is reshaping retail work through technologies such as RFID for inventory and productlocation. This qualitative study explores store employees’ experiences with RFID technology using semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis interpreted through the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM).Findings indicate that employees perceive RFID as time-saving and beneficial for customer service, whi-le technical instability and ergonomic shortcomings reduce perceived ease of use and affect attitudes.Despite concerns about automation, actual system use is high and embedded in routines. The studyhighlights practical implications: the need for reliable infrastructure, ergonomically designed devices, and structured training. The results contribute an employee-centred perspective on retail digitalisationand provide actionable recommendations for supporting staff through technological transitions.
