Våld i nära relationer är ett samhällsproblem och ett ämne som har debatterats mycket om. Somliga har endast ett fokus på kvinnor som blir utsatta och andra lyfter även fram män som blir utsatta. På grund av det är vårt syfte med denna studie att undersöka hur socialarbetare arbetar med individer som har utsatts eller blir utsatta för våld i nära relationer beroende på klientens kön. Syftet är även att undersöka vilka insatser som används för de utsatta beroende på klientens kön. Metoden som användes i studien är en kvalitativ metod, där vi genomförde åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer med socialarbetare som arbetar med våldsutsatta i nära relationer. Intervjuerna analyserades genom en tematisk analys. Utifrån den tematiska analysen fick vi fram tre olika tema som presenteras i resultatet. Dessa teman är arbetsutförande, insatser och våldsutsatta med barn. Med dessa teman kunde vi besvara våra frågeställningar genom att kvinnor är de som söker mest stöd vilket en anledning till detta är att det är fler kvinnor som utsätts för våld i nära relationer i jämförelse med män. Det har lett till att det sociala arbetet som bedrivs har byggts upp utifrån ett kvinnoperspektiv. En av slutsatserna som gjordes i denna studie var att den våldsutsatta klientens kön inte har en påverkan på vilka insatser socialarbetare erbjuder eftersom de utgår utifrån klientens behov.

Intimate partner violence is a widely debated societal problem. Some solely discuss the victimisation of women, while others also include male victims. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine how social workers work with individuals who have been or are being subjected to intimate partner violence based on the client's gender. The aim is also to examine which interventions are used on the victims based on their gender. The method used in this study is a qualitative method, where we conducted eight semi-structured interviews with social workers who work with victims of intimate partner violence. The data was analyzed using a thematic analysis where three themes emerged: work performance, interventions and victims of intimate partner violence with children. With the mentioned themes we were able to answer the questions of this study by finding out that women are the ones who seek the most support, one reason for this being that more women are exposed to intimate partner violence compared to men. This has led to the social work that is being conducted has been built from a woman's perspective. One of the conclusions made in this study was that the gender of the abused client does not have an impact on the interventions that the participants work offers as they are based on the client's needs.
