Detta examensarbete undersöker hur personligt inom LSS-boenden för vuxna definierar sin professionalitet samt vilka faktorer som påverkar deras förmåga att upprätthålla en professionell roll. Studien har använt en kvalitativ metod i form av individuella intervjuer med sexpersoner som arbetar inom LSS-verksamhet. Resultaten visar att personalen definieras som professionalitet som ett stödjande arbete med fokus på självständighet, trygghet och individuella behov, präglat av en professionell bemötande och förmåga att hantera egna känslor. Flera faktorer påverkar förmågan att upprätthålla professionalitet, såsom emotionella krav, etiska dilemma, gränsdragning och tillgång till stödstrukturer och kollegial gemenskap. Goffmans rollteori och Hochschilds teori om emotionellt arbete har använts som teoretiska ramverk för att analysera personliga upplevelser. Studien belyser komplexiteten i yrkesrollen och måste av tydligare riktlinjer och stöd för att stärka professionaliteten inom LSS-verksamheter. 

This bachelor thesis explores how staff in supported living facilities for adults with disabilities define their professionalism and which factors they perceive influence their ability to maintain a professional role. The study employed a qualitative method using individual interviews with six individuals working in supported living services. The results indicate that staff define their professionalism as a supportive role focused on autonomy, security, and individual needs, characterized by a professional approach and the ability to manage their own emotions. Several factors influence the ability to maintain professionalism, such as emotional demands, ethical dilemmas, boundary setting, and access to support structures and collegial support. Goffman's role theory and Hochschild's theory of emotional labor were used as theoretical frameworks to analyze the staff's experiences. The study highlights the complexity of the professional role and the need for clearer guidelines and support to strengthen professionalism within supported living services.
