The following study explores how the Alternative for Germany depicts migration on TikTok. For this, 38 videos published on the AfD’s official parliamentary account between January and August of 2024 were analyzed.The analysis was conducted through a critical discourse analysis, with the chosen application being Wodak’s discourse-historical approach. Following this, the theories of agenda-setting and framing were then applied to the analysis results, to illustrate which categories and arguments were observed to show particular salience.The results showcased the use of five dominant agenda points. These expressed that criminal immigrants pose a threat to Germany and its citizens, while also receiving undeserved social benefits. Furthermore, it was argued that the border controls must be tightened, and that the current government has failed the country. The last agenda point expressed that the AfD and its policies are continuously being misconstrued by both the media and other political parties. These agenda items were emphasized by numerous frames, with ten of them being presented at the end of this paper. Overall, the findings of this analysis indicate that there is a clear conceivable strategy to be found in the discussion of migration by the AfD on TikTok.
