In 2015, a study was conducted by IVO which indicated that the best interests of the child and the child perspective were poorly documented. However, when making decisions concerning children, the assessment must also take into account the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which became law in 2020. The purpose of the study has therefore been to investigate how social workers, within the unit of financial assistance in Malmö's district, experience the consideration of child perspective into account in their handling after the Convention on the Rights of the Child became law in 2020. Another focus has been to find out what opportunities and limitations may arise from taking the child's perspective into account in decisions and what factors affect the room for manoeuvre. The study has been analyzed based on the theory of room for manoeuvre. With the help of Michael Lipsky's theory of grassroots bureaucrats, context has been created for the work of social workers in order to answer the purpose of the study, I chose to use qualitative studies. The results show shortcomings in the consideration of the child perspective, and it appears that the child perspective is very dependent on the social worker's judgment and will in the room for manoeuvre. In the interviews, the respondents have highlighted difficulties and opportunities with the consideration of the child perspective in the processing. The workload, lack of information, knowledge and the limitation of room for manoeuvre as complexity in the work with the child perspective. Shortcomings in the consideration of the child's perspective are also apparent. A more detailed explanation of this can be found in the results and discussion section.

År 2015 gjordes en studie av IVO som tydde på att barnets bästa och barnperspektivet dokumenterades bristfälligt i journalerna. Vid beslut som rör barn ska dock bedömningen ta hänsyn till barnkonventionen som blev lag år 2020. Syftet med studien har därför varit att undersöka hur socialsekreterare, inom enheten ekonomiskt bistånd i Malmös stadsdel, upplever beaktandet av barnperspektivet i sin handläggning efter att barnkonventionen blev lag år 2020. Ett annat fokus har varit att ta reda på vilka möjligheter och begränsningar som kan upplevas med beaktandet av barnperspektivet i besluten och vilka faktorer som påverkar handlingsutrymmet. Studien har analyserats utifrån teorin om handlingsutrymme. Med hjälp av Michael Lipskys teori om gräsrotsbyråkrater har kontext skapats för socialsekreterarnas arbete till att kunna besvara syftet med studien, valde jag att använda mig av kvalitativa studier. I resultatet framkommer brister i beaktandet av barnperspektivet, samt framgår det att barnperspektivet är väldigt beroende av socialsekreterarens omdöme och vilja i handlingsutrymmet. I intervjuerna har respondenterna lyft svårigheter och möjligheter med beaktandet av barnperspektivet i handläggningen. Arbetsbelastningen, brist på information, kunskap och begränsningen av handlingsutrymme som komplexitet i arbetet med barnperspektivet har även lyfts.
