The purpose of OVK is to show that the indoor environment is good, and that the ventilation system fulfills its function. A good indoor environment is a necessity and an important prerequisite for ensuring the well-being and health of the individual who spends more and more of his time indoors. Previous studies and surveys have shown that there are problems in how OVK works and is complied with today. This study therefore examines whether the mandatory ventilation control works in its current form and how it can be improved to ensure the contribution of ventilation to a good indoor environment.

In the study, a qualitative method was used which meant that interviews with people involved in OVK were conducted to get a real perspective on how the control is perceived and complied with. Based on this, together with what other studies have concluded, the study has established that OVK does not function as it is currently intended. The main reason for the problems with OVK today is the lack of knowledge of various stakeholders about both the control and the indoor environment in general. Increased knowledge is central for the control to be taken more seriously. In addition, controls need to be modernized and possibly digitized to promote better compliance.

Syftet med OVK är att visa att inomhusmiljön är bra och att ventilationssystemet fullgör sin funktion. En god inomhusmiljö är en grundläggande nödvändighet samt en viktig förutsättning för att säkra individens välmående och hälsa som spenderar alltmer av sin tid inomhus. Tidigare studier och undersökningar har visat att det finns problematik i hur OVK fungerar och efterlevs idag. Denna studie undersöker därför om den obligatoriska ventilationskontrollen fungerar i dess nuvarande form samt hur den kan förbättras för att säkerställa ventilationens bidrag till en god inomhusmiljö.

I studien har en kvalitativ metod använts som inneburit att intervjuer med personer som är involverade i OVK har genomförts för att få ett verkligt perspektiv på hur kontrollen uppfattas och efterlevs. Utifrån detta, tillsammans med vad andra studier har kommit fram till, har studien konstaterat att OVK inte fungerar i dagsläget som det är tänkt. Den främsta anledningen till problematiken med OVK idag är olika intressenters okunskap kring både kontrollen och inomhusmiljön i stort. En ökad kunskap är central för att kontrollen skall tas på större allvar. Dessutom behöver kontrollen moderniseras och eventuellt digitaliseras för att främja en bättre efterlevnad.
