I Sverige klassificeras tobaksberoende som en sjukdom och beroendet kan även leda till uppkomsten av andra sjukdomar. Sjuksköterskans skyldighet är att främja hälsa och förebygga sjukdom. Av den anledningen riktades syftet med denna litteraturstudie mot att undersöka sjuksköterskans roll vid tobaks interventioner. Litteraturstudien grundades på fem vetenskapliga artiklar som kvalitetsgranskades. Artiklarna erhölls från databasen PubMed och sökmotorn Google. Resultatet visade att en sjuksköterskeledd tobaksavvänjningsintervention visar positivt resultat direkt efter avslutad intervention. Däremot är inte sjuksköterskans resurser tillräckliga vid uppföljningsintervention. Inte heller vid tobaksavvänjningsinterventioner för patienter som led av hjärt- och kärlsjukdom och vars sjukdom var tobaksrelaterad blev interventionsresultaten signifikant. Sjuksköterskans roll är viktigt för motivationen hos patienter. Sjuksköterskans yttre och inre resurser är de verktyg hon kan använda sig av och som är nödvändiga för att ge empowerment och motivation, och resultatet av studien visar att dessa måste förbättras. Addiction to tobacco is classified in Sweden as a disease and the addiction can in turn lead to other diseases. The nurse’s responsibility is to promote health and prevent illness. The purpose of this literature review was to study the nurse’s role in smoking cessation. The literature review was based on the critical examination of five scientific articles which were found using PubMed and the search engine Google. The result showed that a smoking cessation intervention by a nurse gives a positive effect in the close timeframe after the intervention, but that the resources available to the nurse are not adequate for succesful follow-up intervention. The cessation intervention of patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases caused by tobacco use did not show any significant result. The nurse’s role is important for the motivation of the patient and her internal and external resources are the tools she can use to give empowerment to the patient.
