Denna uppsats har inspirerats av författarens erfarenhet av personer som omfattas av LSS, lagen om stöd och service till vissa funktionshindrade. Datainsamling har skett genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Syftet med denna studie är att belysa maktaspekter i interaktion med brukare, utifrån personalens perspektiv. Dessa aspekter åsyftar att lyfta fram hur självbestämmanderätten levs upp till i förhållande till lagens intentioner. Frågor ställs kring personalens verktyg i interaktion med brukare, och på vilket sätt de arbetar med att främja brukares självbestämmande. Studien även behandlar maktaspekter som, utifrån teorin och informanternas utsagor, beror på flera faktorer. Det har konkluderats att brukarens kommunikationssvårigheter kan medföra risker för tolkning, och därför fästs stor vikt vid relation med brukaren, samt kännedom om denne. Det har också framkommit andra faktorer, såsom ekonomi och ledarskap, som har problematiserats i denna uppsats.

This essay has been inspired by the author's experience of people covered by the LSS, the Support and Services Act for individuals with certain disabilities. Data collection has been gathered through semi structured interviews. The purpose of this study is to highlight power aspects in interaction with care-recipients, from the perspective of the caregivers. These aspects aim to highlight if the self-determination right is lived up to in relation to the law’s intentions. Questions are asked about which tools are used by the caregivers in interaction with users, and how do they work to promote the self-determination of the users. The study also deals with power aspects which, based on the theory and the informants' statements, depend on several factors. It has been concluded that the caretakers’ communication difficulties can pose a risk of interpretation, and therefore is attached great importance to the relationship with the caretaker, as well as caregivers’ knowledge about the caretakers. There have also been other factors, such as economics and leadership, which has been problematized in this essay.
