Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Yrkesutövare inom sjuksköterskeprofessionen är skyldiga att upprätthålla en god patientsäkerhet som skyddar mot vårdskada. Syfte: Att undersöka forskning kring sjuksköterskans läkemedelshantering som är skadlig eller potentiellt skadlig för patienter i slutenvård. Metod: En litteraturstudie för att ta fram ett relevant underlag av vetenskapliga artiklar genomfördes via databassökningar i CINAHL, PubMed och PsycINFO. Resultat: I resultatet kunde fyra kategorier relaterat till felaktig läkemedelshantering identifieras. Dessa var frekvens, typer av fel, arbetsmiljö och erfarenhet. Slutsats: De två mest framträdande omständigheter som kunde relateras till felaktig läkemedelshantering var brist på erfarenhet och förekomst av avbrott och vanligaste var att sjuksköterskor utelämnade kontroll av patientidentitet.

Abstract [en]

Background: Professionals within the nursing profession are obligated to uphold good patient safety that protects against injury sustained during care. Aim: To examine research on nurses drug handling that is harmful or potentially harmful to patients in inpatient care settings. Method: A literature study was conducted and in order to find a relevant basis of scientific articles, database searches of CINAHL, PubMed and PsycINFO were carried out. Result: In the result four categories stood out with regard to correlation with flawed handling of drugs. These were frequency, types of errors, working environment and experience. Conclusion: The two most prominent circumstances connected to faulty drug handling were lack of experience and the occurrence of interruptions and the most common fault were nurses who neglected to confirm patient identity.
