Abstract [sv]

Fibromyalgi är ett syndrom som karakteriseras genom utbredd kronisk värk och ökad känslighet för beröring. De drabbade kan uppleva sömnproblem, depressioner, oro, trötthet, illamående, huvudvärk och tarmproblem. För att få diagnosen fibromyalgi skall smärtan vara utbredd i 11 av 18 så kallade ”tender points” under en period av minst tre månader. Allt som gjordes med enkelhet tidigare är nu jobbigt och gör ont. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur patienter med fibromyalgi upplever sin sjukdom och dess behandlingsmetoder. Metoden var en sammanställning av elva artiklar som kritiskt har granskats enligt gällande kriterier. Resultatet som framkommer är att patienterna upplevde en minskad livskvalitet. Den kan förbättras genom en ökad kroppsstyrka som leder till att patienterna känner sig piggare och har mer ork för att t ex klara av det dagliga livet. Slutsatsen som kan dras av detta resultat skulle kunna vara att utbildning och ökad kunskap är elementära faktorer för att kunna ha ett professionellt bemötande och en förändring av attityder gentemot de sjuka.

Abstract [en]

Fibromyalgia is a syndrom that is shown by chronic widespread pain and a higher tenderness. Some symptoms are insomnia, depression, anxiety, fatigue, feeling nauseous, headache and intestinal problems. To receive the diagnose fibromyalgia the patient must have widespread pain in at least eleven out of eighteen so called tender points. You also must have had the pain for a period of at least three months. Everything the patient could do in an easy way before now feels hard and painful. The purpose of this study were to investigate how people with fibromyalgia experience there disease and different ways of treatment. The method was a compile of eleven scientifically studies which were critically reviewed according to valid criteria. The result of the study shows that fibromyalgia drastically decrease the quality of life. The quality of life can be increased with higher body strength. Higher body strength makes people feeling better and makes them more alert. It also helps them manage their daily life better. The conclusions that were drawn from these facts were that education and an increased knowledge about fibromyalgia is very important for a professional treatment and a change of attitude considering people with fibromyalgia.
