Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Antalet äldre som lever och dör i hemsjukvården ökar vilket medför att det ställs höga krav på sjuksköterskan har tillräcklig kunskap och färdigheter att kunna tillhandahålla en högkvalitativ palliativ vård. Sjuksköterskor kommer i kontakt med emotionella situationer i samband med omvårdnad av patienter i livets slutskede. Syfte: Syftet med studien är att sammanställa, integrera och syntetisera rådande kunskap om sjuksköterskors upplevelser av palliativ vård för äldre personer i hemsjukvård. Metod: Systematisk litteraturstudie baserat på 11 orginalartiklar med kvalitativ design. Databassökningar utfördes i databaserna PubMed, Cinahl och PsycINFO. Syntetiseringen av artiklarna gjordes enligt Noblit och Hares meta-etnografi. Resultat: Resultatet presenterades utifrån 4 teman, ”Utmanande och känslomässigt betungande”, ”Vikten av att kommunicera”, ”Stödja anhöriga” och ”Vikten av teamarbete”. Konklusion: Sjuksköterskors upplevelser av palliativ vård för äldre personer i hemsjukvården innefattar många olika perspektiv. Dagliga utmaningar inom den palliativa vården innefattar starka känslor, existentiella frågor, etiska problem samt ett fungerande teamarbete.

Abstract [en]

Background: The number of elderly people who live and die in a particular accommodation is increasing, which entails high demands that the nurse has sufficient knowledge and skills to be able to offer a high-quality palliative care. Nurses come in contact with emotional situations associated with nursing of patients in end of life. Aim: The purpose of the study is to compile, integrate and synthesize current knowledge of nurses’ experiences of palliative care for elderly people in home care. Method: Systematic literature study based on 11 original articles with qualitative design. Database searches were performed in the databases PubMed, Cinahl and PsycINFO. The synthesis of the articles was done according to Noblit andHares metaethnography. Result: The results were presented from 4 themes, “Challenging and emotionally oneruos, “The importance of communicating”, “Support relatives” and “The importance of teamwork”. Conclusion: Nurses’ experiences of palliative care for elderly people in home care, many different perspectives are included. Nurses get in touch with daily challenges in palliative care where strong emotions, existential issues, ethical problems and the requirement for cooperation should work.
