Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

A behaviour is a result of the teamwork between the individual and the surrounding. A given behaviour in a person suffering from dementia can be a symptom on disease but even a way for an individual to express itself. The aim of this literature study is to examine if the nursing staff with their attitudes can cause changes in behaviour among persons suffering from dementia. The authors did a literature study on a basis of ten scientific articles. The result shows that if the nursing staff put a great demands on a persons suffering from dementia, use the power on a basis of its position and have a faulty in its way to communicate with the patient, a disruptive behaviour arise in different ways. When the nursing staff shows respect and give attention and adapt nursing on the basis of the patients` needs, a positive interaction can be done. The authors came along with this study shows that the nursing staffs` knowledge about the disease and the competence to work with a person suffering from dementia are necessary to decrease disruptive behaviours.
