3 Abstract There are approximately 0,8 billion Muslim women and girls globally, yet the discourse surrounding Muslim women and girls remains virtually untapped with very little investigation being conducted into the lexical choices made by newspapers. The intent of this paper is to explore the discourse involving Muslim women and girls in American newspapers after the executive order 13769 was declared by President Donald Trump. This study was conducted both quantitatively and qualitatively. The quantitative part of the study consists of building and reviewing corpora, while the qualitative section consists of analysis, whereupon Norman Fairclough's three-dimensional model will be employed along with Stuart Hall's, and Niklas Luhmann’s representational and media theories. The findings of this study suggest that Muslim women and girls are represented in ways that relate either to religious dress code, their status and position or advances they have achieved in society.
