Abstract [sv]

Alla grupper termocyklades i 5000 cykler (5°C to 55°C) innan draghållfasthetstest utfördes.

Abstract [en]

Purpose The purpose of this study was to evaluate how different surface treatments on titanium abutments before recementation affect the bond strength of the restoration. Material and method 30 specimens consisting of zirconia (Z-CAD HTL, Metoxit, Thayngen, Switzerland) adhesivly cemented (Panavia™ V5, Kuraray Noritake, Tokyo, Japan) to titanium abutments (Elos Accurate® Hybrid Base, Elos Medtech, Timmersdala, Sweden) were divided into three groups with 10 specimens in each group; control group (C), aluminum oxide abrasion group (AA) and scraping group (S). Group AA and group S were after cementation exposed to heat to detach the zirconia copings from the titanium abutments. The excess cement present on the surfaces of the titanium abutments were removed with aluminum oxide abrasion (group AA) and in group S by scraping with a scalpel, before the cementation procedure were repeated. All groups were thermocycled for 5000 cycles (5°C to 55°C) before tensile strength test was performed. The data was analyzed with One-way ANOVA independent sample Kruskal-Wallis test and multiple comparison Bonferroni test, with significance level set to α = 0.05. Results Group AA and group S showed a statistically significant increase in bond strength compared to group C, with AA having the highest values. No statistically significant difference in bond strength was shown between group S and AA. Conclusion Within the limitations of this study the following conclusion can be made. Aluminum oxide abrading or scraping the surface of titanium abutments increases the bond strength of recemented restorations.
