MEANINGFUL MOMENTS : A design project to support memory and well-being through everyday sensory activities (Swedish)
Abstract [en]

The research investigates how, with the help of product design, we can prevent dementia through basic sensorybased interactions. The project gathered information about useful activities and essential sensory experiences, and emotional needs through interviews with caregivers and medical students for the development of the kit. The gathered information guided the design process of a physical kit, which aims to prevent dementia by using personalized sensory engagement. The final design is the result of a repetitive hands-on process which received ongoing participant feedback. The participatory design process with caregivers resulted in a basic customized kit that incorporated all the needs and emotional feedback obtained during the project. The research indicates that design can assist cognitive health by improving dementia prevention kits, although it cannot resolve all issues
