Just-in-Time Logistics : A Logistics Company's Inventory Management with Scanning (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Abstract

This study aimed to explore how the use of scanners and barcodes within the framework of Just-in-Time logistics impacts companies' logistics processes. By using qualitative interviews, the role of technology in improving warehouse management and logistics was analyzed. Empirical data from interviews were compared with existing theoretical literature to highlight the efficiency, accuracy, and challenges associated with these technologies.

The results showed that the introduction of scanners and barcodes had a significant positive impact on warehouse management. By replacing traditional manual methods with faster and more precise systems, these tools enabled more efficient monitoring of goods throughout the entire supply chain. This was crucial in meeting the increased customer demands for quick and accurate deliveries.

Despite the obvious benefits, challenges associated with implementing these technologies were also identified. Initial costs for implementing the systems, the need for extensive staff training, and technical issues such as Wi-Fi signal interruptions or damaged barcodes emerged as significant obstacles. Despite these challenges, the investments were considered profitable in the long run, as they contributed to improved warehouse management and reduced operational costs over time.

To maximize the benefits of the technology, the importance of continuous training and process updates was emphasized. Additionally, future technologies such as RFID and artificial intelligence (AI) were identified as potential means to further enhance the accuracy and efficiency of warehouse management. By analyzing and adapting to these advancements, companies can strengthen their logistics strategies and increase their competitiveness in the market.
