Students' positive attitudes to science have been decreasing over the years. Students' lack of interest in science inspired us to read about the subject. This study aims to find out if there are differences between girls and boys' attitudes toward natural science and the reasons there might be for the change in students' attitudes toward science as they grow older. A literature review was conducted to find relevant material. The results show that boys have a more positive attitude towards natural science compared to girls and that there are differences between girls' and boys' interests in natural science subjects. Students' attitudes toward to the subject become more negative as they grow older and are affected by factors such as subject relevance, self confidence, norms, and teaching methods. The findings indicate that teachers need to engage students, for example by working practically and connecting natural science to students' interest.
