Children of parents with addiction : A qualitative study based on the social workers' perspective regarding children's experience of their parents' substance abuse (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study has been to qualitatively examine from the perspective of a social secreterarys´s perspective of how children of substance abusive parnets are affected, and how social services can help and protect these children. In this interview study there were five social workers who were given the chance to participate and share their experience. In summary it appears based on the the results of the study that children are negatively impacted in many different ways by their parents alcohol/drug addicition. Some of the impacts areas can be found in childrens emotional wellbeing, social skills and school eduaction. We also get to find out that risk and protective factors can affect the degree to which children are affected by and how it can look different for each individual.
