The aim of this study has been to explore the challenges of individuals leaving their criminal lifestyle , and to analyze advantages and disadvantages of the treatment programs that are meant to support them. In this study qualitative interviews have been done to fulfill the aim of the study. The study is based on Glenn D. Walters theory called “The lifestyle theory of crime” and the “labeling theory”. Furthermore Ebaughs Exit theory has been used and Erving Goffman's Stigma theory to answer the aim. The theories discuss the challenges of those individuals leaving their criminal lifestyle and struggles with creating a new identity and being accepted in the society. The results show that there are social challenges for criminals that wanna leave their criminal lifestyle, as well as emotional difficulties and structural challenges.
