The project examines how a social accountability app could be used to mitigate the effects of academic procrastination among university students. During the project, it was understood that students need an incentive to study when they are not alerted by an upcoming deadline, and existing mainstream apps do not offer enough encouragement nor pressure. After engaging with university students, it was hypothesised that having an accountability system may give them the push they need to be more effective in their studies. A social networking accountability system involving real people was developed in Figma and evaluated by students to gather insights on how they perceived the app. In the end, the prototype got a lot of praise, however, the limited functionality of the app makes it hard to determine its real-world effectiveness. Therefore, future work should focus at making a fully functional system.
