Abstract [en]

The aim of this article is to answer the following question “how gender difference expresses itself in the classroom and how can we work against it?”. UN convention on the rights of the child says that all children are of equal value. It also says that no child should be discriminated due to its gender. The articles that we have read says that the treatment of girls and boys are different in the classroom. Boys get more attention than girls do and some of the teachers give consciously more attention to the boys. There are more female teachers than male and the attention the students get, depends in some cases on the gender of the teacher. The use of literacy and technical tools can prevent the gender gap. Our overview shows that working against gender differences in the classroom are important but answering our question is hard because there are many underlying factors that require consideration. The conclusion is that the teacher needs to get self-conscious of how to respond to the pupils first, and then the teacher can work with the pupils.
