Public institutions such as the University have a number of requirements that the safety work must take into consideration. These are laws and regulations but also internal and external interests. The study was conducted in order to contribute with knowledge regarding whether students experience the security and safety services at Malmö University. The study also aims to contribute knowledge about which security services that students consider add value in the form of increased security in the school premises. 

The purpose is to study which opinions and experiences Malmö University students possess regarding its implemented security services. The study will be based on interviews and also existing literature and theorie. Since there is an effort to deepen knowledge within experiences of the university's security services and the connection between these and scientific theory, the choice of a qualitative approach was made. 

The respondents who were interviewed strongly agreed that security is perceived as high. The study also shows that a low experience of security and safety would mean a reduction in well-being and the risk of transition universities. Furthermore, the respondents considered that the services that contributed to security were the services they come into contact with on a daily basis in the school premises, for example patrolling of security guards, ID checks and access systems with multi-cards. Students' interests in security issues should be prioritized and form the basis for how security work is designed, improved and developed.
