The study aimed to seek understanding and knowledge about how the homecare service(elder care) uses the social documentation based on the working model IBIC (the needs of theindividual at the center). With that basis we went in-depth on how the home care staff in eldercare experience to work with IBIC.IBIC is a working model for home care staff in eldercare that aims to meet the individualneeds. We used a qualitative research approach and performed four qualitative interviewswith home care staff in the elderly care in Malmö stad. The result was analyzed with the basisof theoretical reference frames that illustrate different kinds of dilemmas. The theories weused were Narrative gerontology, Hermeneutics, KASAM etcetera.The conclusion of this study was that there are mixed opinions about whether IBIC is used inthe care work in the home care service. Some believe that there is no time and space to workbased on IBIC, some believe that the best work is done if you use IBIC.In general, based onthe course of the study, the importance of working based on IBIC has been highlighted,which is that it will be easier for staff when they visit the eldery to work based on IBIC, butit’s also much better quality in the efforts that the elderly get help with.
