I den här studien undersöktes podcasten Adoptionspodden för att få en förståelse och därigenom förklara hur transnationell adoption kan ha påverkat en individs identitet enligt de som själva blivit transnationellt adopterade. De frågeställningar som användes var, hur utformar sig diskussionen kring identitet i Adoptionspodden och varför utspelar det sig på det sättet, har formandet av identiteten påverkats av att vara adopterad från utlandet och i så fall på vilket sätt och på vilket sätt kan en transnationell adoption påverka en individ enligt de som själva är adopterade. 

Studien gjordes med hjälp av en kvalitativ metod där citat från olika avsnitt av Adoptionspodden användes för att förstå och förklara identitet kopplat till adoption. De teorier som blev relevanta för den här studien var anknytningsteori, identitetsteori och vithetsnorm. Resultatet visade att Adoptionspodden diskuterar ämnen som kan kopplas till identitet, exempelvis rasism och anknytning. När personerna i Adoptionspodden pratade om anknytning tog de upp separationer och trauma och hur det har påverkat deras liv. När de pratar om rasism berättade de om hur de blivit bemötta annorlunda av omgivningen på grund av deras hudfärg. Gästerna i Adoptionspodden uttryckte en form av förnekelse från omgivningen gällande den rasism som de har utsatts för, vilket påverkade deras identitetsskapande. Personerna som har adopterats talade även om tacksamhetsskuld. Studien visar att de händelser en individ varit med om kan påverka formandet av identiteten. 

In this study, the podcast Adoptionspodden was examined in order to gain an understanding of international adoption, and the effects on an individual's identity from the adoptee´s point of view. Here are the following questions used in the examination, how are discussions about identity in the Adoptionspodden formulate and why does it take place in that way, has the formation of the identity been affected by being adopted from abroad and if so in which way and in which way can an international adoption affect an individual according to those who are adopted themselves?

The study was done using qualitative research methods by analyzing quotes from different episodes of the Adoptionspodden to understand and explain the effects of being adopted. The theories that became relevant to this study were attachment theory, identity theory, and white normative. The results of the study showed that the discussed topics in the podcast can be linked to identity, for example, racism and attachment. In several episodes of Adoptionspodden, the adoptees speak about attachment and address experiences of separation and trauma and how it has affected their lives. When the adoptees talk about racism, they talked about how they have been treated differently by the society because of their skin color. Furthermore, the adoptees that get interviewed in the podcast express a form of denial about the existence of racism in society. Also, the adoptees talk about their feeling towards the debt of gratitude. The study shows that the events an individual has experienced have affected the formation of identity.
