Om projektet

Projektet NORDIC VOICES syftar till att öka kunskapen om, tillgängligheten och användningen av oral history, livsberättelser och personliga minnen vid nordiska kulturarvsinstitutioner genom att samarbeta med ledande experter från både akademin och olika kulturinstitutioner. I jämförelse med andra länder är användningen av oral history och personliga minnen i nordiska kulturinstitutioners utställningar och digitala arkiv begränsad, eftersom alla nordiska länder har strikta personuppgiftslagar.

I projektet utforskar vi nya och etiskt, kulturellt och socialt hållbara sätt att utöka tillgängligheten och användningen av personliga minnen och berättelser genom att dela kunskaper, erfarenheter i samarbete och dialog mellan ledande forskare och företrädare från kulturarvsektorn i de nordiska länderna.

About the project

NORDIC VOICES seeks to increase the use of oral histories, life stories and personal memories in Nordic cultural institutions by collaborating with leading experts from academia and various cultural institutions. Compared to many other countries, the use of confidential sources in Nordic cultural institutions and online archives is limited, because all the Nordic countries have strict personal data acts. In the project, we explore novel, ethically, and socially sustainable ways to expand the use of individual and personal memories and stories in Nordic cultural institutions, by sharing knowledge, experiences and inspiration through collaboration.

Workshops

The first NORDIC VOICES workshop “Oral history and personal testimonies in museums” will be held in autumn 2022 in Copenhagen, Roskilde and Malmö. The second workshop “Oral histories, life stories and analysing significance in museums” will be held in autumn 2023 in Turku and Paimio. Additionally, two online workshops will be held, the first “Personal testimonies as museum communication” in spring 2022 and the second “Sustainable and transformative futures of memory practices and institutions” in spring 2023.
