Abstract [sv]

Forskarskolan i politisk idéhistoria har för avsikt att utbilda nästa generation av doktorander i politisk idéhistoria, genom att föra samman idag splittrade forskare och forskargrupper till en helhet kring forskarutbildningen. Politisk idéhistoria (History of Political Thought) är ett i högsta grad samtidsrelevant ämne på grund av politikens kris. Politikens kris kan förstås menar vi, inte som en fråga om specifika partier eller regeringskriser, utan som en större kris i relationen mellan politikens mångfald av aktörer, en samhällelig kontext präglad av ifrågasättanden och tvivel som riktar sig till och med mot själva föreställningen om representativ demokrati, liksom som en ständig mobilisering av den politiska idéhistoriens repertoar på sätt som ofta för historiker framstår som djupt problematiska. Vi menar att denna samtid ställer tre krav på politisk idéhistoria: att förstärka den empiriska kunskapen om faktiska idétraditioner och ideologier, inklusive de som direkt utmanar demokratibegreppet, att öka den kritiska reflexiviteten och historiografiska kunskapen bland unga forskare för att hjälpa dem att förhålla sig – och bidra – till denna samtid, och, att öka en metodisk medvetenhet om idé-, begrepps- och källanalys samt förankring i ett idag starkt växande internationellt forskningsläge.

Abstract [en]

AbstractThe doctoral school History of Political Thought seeks to organize historical competence in the history of political thought and train a new generation of doctoral students in the historical analysis of present day crisis of the political. We live in times of manifold and overlapping crises, which almost all have a political expression: crisis in the relationship between the different timescales of political systems and nature, crisis in democratic commitments, representation, and legitimation, crisis of material wealth, economic order and ideas of progress and affluence, crisis in the production of historical knowledge and its exploitation. The objective of the doctoral school in the history of political thought is 1, to organize and ensure future historical competence in the history of political thought in Sweden, 2, To take stock of the important historiographic and methodological landwinnings in the history of political thought and bring new perspectives in this field into doctoral training and recruitment. 3. To internationalize the study and teaching of the history of political thought by inscribing doctoral training in an established global field.
