The aim of the project is to examine the working conditions of migrant teachers working in Swedish schools. The project has two starting points, namely a) difficulties of newly arrived migrant teachers to enter the Swedish labour market and b) the long-term recruitment and retainment of teachers within Swedish schools. Through qualitative interviews, we will analyse participants’ experiences of the Fast track as well as considering whether or not the teachers consider the knowledge and contacts gained through the Fast track as essential for gaining work in the Swedish school system. In the project, we will also interview school headmasters to examine how the competencies of previous fast track participants are utilised in their new roles as teachers.
