Denna uppsats är en återberättelse och utforskning av utformningsprocessen för ett gästhus och ett generationsboende på Hönö. Författaren, en arkitektstudent, fick i uppdrag att skapa en byggnad som smälter in i öns historiska miljö och traditionella svenska arkitektur. Uppsats dokumenterar studentens första designprojekt utanför universitetsramarna och fokuserar på de utmaningar som följer med att bygga nytt i en kulturhistoriskt skyddad miljö där nybyggnationer är kraftigt reglerade.Genom en dagboksform redogörs för den kreativa processen, klientdialogen och hur idéer omvandlas till konkreta ritningar för en bygglovsansökan. Uppsats reflekterar över hur teoretisk kunskap överförs till praktisk tillämpning och undersöker arkitektens roll i att balansera teknisk kompetens med kreativt tänkande. Dessutom belyser texten de metodologiska utmaningarna med att dokumentera en designprocess, särskilt när mycket av arbetet baseras på subjektiva upplevelser och minnesbilder. This thesis explores and reconstructs the design process behind the development of a guest house and multigenerational living space on the island of Hönö. Tasked with creating a structure that harmonizes with the island’s historical Swedish architecture, the author—an architecture student—documents their first design project outside of university. The thesis delves into the challenges of designing in a historically protected area, where new constructions are heavily restricted. It follows the iterative design process, the dialogue with the clients, and the development of the architectural plans for a building permit application.The theis serves as both a personal reflection and a documentation of the learning process, capturing the transformation of theoretical knowledge into practical application. Through the use of a diary format, the author examines key questions about architectural practice, client communication, and the translation of spatial ideas into functional designs. The text also reflects on the subjective nature of documenting creative processes, addressing the inherent challenges of balancing objectivity and personal experience in architectural storytelling. The study concludes with insights on the integration of theory and practice in architecture, offering a nuanced perspective on the complexities of architectural work.
