Den här studien undersöker arbetet med sociokulturella värden inom stadsutveckling, med fokus på området Lokstallarna i Kirseberg, Malmö. Studien är strukturerad som en fallstudie och inkluderar en litteraturgenomgång av social hållbarhet inom stadsplaneringsprocessen, följt av dokumentstudier samt kvalitativa intervjuer med olika intressenter som är involverade i utvecklingsprojektet.

Det huvudsakliga målet är att dokumentera och analysera utvalda intressenters perspektiv på social hållbarhet under den pågående stadsutvecklingen. Studien syftar också till att bidra till den teoretiska diskursen om social hållbarhet genom att ge insikter i de praktiska utmaningar och möjligheter som uppstår under utvecklingsprocessen. 

Resultatet belyser perspektiven hos makthavare, sakkunniga och lokala aktörer som påverkar den socialt hållbara utvecklingen av platsen. Studien visar att trots en gemensam förståelse för vikten av sociala och kulturella värden inom stadsutveckling, finns det också betydande utmaningar, såsom att balansera bevarandet av kulturarvet med behovet av modernisering och tillväxt.

Intervjuerna målade upp en gemensam bild som anger behovet av samarbete mellan olika sektorer, samt betydelsen av adaptive reuse av de historiska byggnaderna för att främja en socialt hållbar stadsutveckling. Lokstallarna-projektet presenteras som ett fall där dessa gemensamma principer om socialt hållbar utveckling aktivt kan tillämpas, och erbjuder ett verkligt exempel på hur social hållbarhet kan integreras i stadsplaneringen.

De omfattande utmaningar som behandlas i intervjuerna handlar om ekonomiska modeller och byråktatiska hinder.  Den sammanlagda bilden erkänner behovet av att fortsätta arbeta aktivt med samverkan och dialog mellan intressenter och vikten av att upprätthålla sociokulturella värden genom hela planprocessen.

This study examines the work with sociocultural values in urban development, focusing on the Lokstallarna area in Kirseberg, Malmö. The study is structured as a case study and includes a literature review of social sustainability in the urban planning process, followed by qualitative interviews with various stakeholders involved in the development project.

 The primary aim is to document and analyze the selected stakeholders' perspectives on social sustainability during the ongoing urban development. The study also seeks to contribute to the theoretical discourse on social sustainability by providing insights into the practical challenges and opportunities that arise during the development process.

 The results show the perspectives of authorities, experts, and local actors on socially sustainable development of the area. The study indicates that despite a shared understanding of the importance of social and cultural values in urban development, there are also significant challenges, such as balancing the preservation of cultural heritage with the need for modernization and growth.

 The interviews presented a shared view highlighting the need for collaboration between different sectors and the significance of adaptive reuse of the historical buildings to promote socially sustainable urban development. The Lokstallarna project is presented as a case where these common principles of socially sustainable development can be actively applied, offering a real example of how social sustainability can be integrated into urban planning.

 The comprehensive challenges addressed in the interviews concern economic models and bureaucratic obstacles. The overall picture acknowledges the need to continue actively working with cooperation and dialogue between stakeholders and the importance of maintaining sociocultural values throughout the planning process.
