Abstract [en]

This thesis investigates the use of Large Language Models like ChatGPT in academic settings, focusing on the balance between technological advantages and academic integrity. The development of the Study Assistant prototype exemplifies the application of AI tools, designed to support students with writing tasks. More specifically, it can help during the research and ideation processes. This study uses a combination of Systematic Design Framework and Design Science Research Methodology to create a user-centered proposal, incorporating feedback from the interviews and the user testing. Findings suggest that while the Study Assistant can be beneficial, it is necessary to continuously refine the tool. Additionally, this thesis outlines the need for clear guidelines to ensure that AI tools enhance the learning experience without compromising academic integrity.
