The concept of intergenerational trauma transmission examines how trauma gets passed on between generations. In recent years there has been made several studies regarding refugee families and trauma transmission a population group that only recently has got more attention in the field. This systematic literature review gives an overview over qualitative studies from the field of psychology and social science in order to compile the current state of knowledge regarding trauma transmission in refugee families. The work focuses not only on the individual psychopathology but also on societal and systematic factors that influence refugee families capacities to cope with their traumatic past, parenting and the challenges put on them in host countries.
