Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Befolkningen i samhället blir allt äldre och med åldern ökar risken förmalnutrition. Malnutrition är en bidragande faktor till ohälsa och kan leda till ettstörre vårdbehov. Tillståndet kan leda till såväl fysiska - som mentala och socialahälsoproblem. Därför är det viktigt för sjuksköterskan att kunna identifierapatienter som är i riskzonen eller redan lider av malnutrition, för att kunna geriktade omvårdnadsinsatser gällande både prevention och behandling.Syfte: Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att sammanställa vårdpersonalserfarenheter av att vårda äldre patienter med malnutrition.Metod: Designen är utformad som en litteraturstudie av kvalitativ art, där artiklarär inhämtade från de två databaserna CINAHL och Pubmed.Kvalitetsgranskningen skedde enligt SBU’s kvalitetsgranskningsmall förkvalitativ metod. De valda artiklarna analyserades genom innehållsanalys.Resultat: Resultatet baserades på tio vetenskapliga artiklar som resulterade i tvåhuvudkategorier, vilka var: “Hinder vid nutritionsvård” och “Strategier ochsamarbete för att främja nutritionsvård”.Konklusion: Vårdpersonal behöver öka sin kunskap och kompetens för att bättrekunna identifiera äldre som lider av eller är i riskzon att drabbas av malnutritionDe olika professionernas roller i nutritionsvården bör tydliggöras och arbetet medprevention,identifiering och behandling behöver utvecklas.

Abstract [en]

Background: With an aging population the risk for malnutrition increases, thecondition is a contributing factor for illness which could lead to higher care needs forthe individual from a physical, mental and social perspective. Elderly is at higher riskto get malnourished which creates challenges for healthcare from a cost and resourceperspective. Therefore, it is essential for nurse practitioners to be able to identifypatients that are malnourished or are at risk of developing it and be able to givenursing interventions for prevention and treatment.Aim: The aim with this literature study is to compile health personnels experiences oftaking care of elderly patients affected by malnutrition.Method: The design of this bachelor thesis is a literature study with a qualitativeapproach and the articles from the result are collected through the databases CINAHLand Pubmed. The quality review followed the Quality review template from SBU forqualitative methods. Articles were later analyzed through a content analysis.Results: The result was based on ten scientific articles that submerged into two maincategories: “Obstacles with nutritional care” and “Strategies and teamwork topromote nutritional care”Conclusion: There is a need for health personnel to prioritize and increase theirknowledge and competence with identifying malnutrition and nursing interventionsthat can be used. The different professions roles and responsibility needs to clarifyand the work with prevention, identification and nursing intervention needs to evolveto promote the work with patients with malnutrition.
