Abstract [en]

This study delves into the communicative intricacies of the "Am I the Asshole?"(AITA) subreddit, specifically focusing on the "Not the Asshole" (NTA) posts and theirsubsequent comments. The research identifies dominant themes reflectingsolidarity, self-interest, and collaborative engagement within the online communitythrough thematic analysis. Theories of benign online disinhibition, social support,and participatory culture were applied to understand their manifestation within theidentified themes, illuminating the positive environment of the AITA community.The study underscores the therapeutic and supportive essence of the platform, fromaddressing trivialities to more profound societal challenges, suggesting digitalspaces' potential as vital resources for emotional and social backing. Findingscontribute to the academic discourse on online community dynamics, emphasizingthe positive aspects of digital interactions and the applicability of traditional socialtheories to contemporary online contexts.
