Abstract [en]

Individuals who define themselves as homosexual have a worse psychological well-being than individuals who define themselves as heterosexual. It is also common for homosexuals to take drugs to suppress the negative feelings that arise with the mental illness. There is insufficient research on homosexuals and their well-being, and there are also too few comparison groups to gain a broad understanding and knowledge of the subject. One reason for the poor mental health is the homophobia that exists in society. Society is a stress factor for homosexuals where many feel that they cannot be themselves. There are laws and rules for the acceptance of all individuals to be as they wish. However, it unfortunatley does not help and the mood of homosexuals continues to be bad, they also continues to use drugs so they can manage the feelings that the society brings out of them.
