This study has investigated whether there is a connection between gender-based violence and human security. In other words, if the notion of human security accommodates gender-based sexual violence. To be able to investigate this matter, the paper uses the concepts of human security, freedom from fear, protection of dignity and other different dimensions of human security. 

Based on the aim of the paper and the data collected, the study has been done through content analysis. As a result, research has shown that there is a link between human security and gender-based violence. These results have been obtained through a study of various initiatives by the international community, the DRC government, and the local NGOs.
