"I don't see it if a person then shuts down the screen and kind of lies down on the floor because they feel bad." : Impact of Digital Meetings on the Work Approach of IT Consultants (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Working digitally has been under development in organizations for a while, but when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world, organizations were forced, regardless of their previous experience with digital transformation processes, to become more digital. As many switched to remote work, digital meetings became an important part of many people's work lives. The purpose of this study was to investigate how digital meetings have affected the work methods of IT-consultants and to identify the opportunities and limitations it entails and the acceptance of digital meetings by IT-consultants.. Qualitative data collection methods in the form of semi-structured interviews were used to gain insight and answer the purpose of the study. The study conducted interviews with 10 different IT-consultants at different organizations. The result of the study was that the IT-consultants' acceptance mainly depended on personal interest in IT and technology, social influence in the form of colleagues and network effects in the form of customer relationships. The results also showed that the opportunities that digital meetings have led to are mainly flexibility and efficiency, where the result also shows that the consultants have become dependent on being effective. The limitations seen in the study are that digital meetings hinder social presence.
