This thesis explores the impact of nationalist ideologies on the welfare state in Germany, Sweden, and France. The study investigates how nationalist movements shape the evolution of the welfare state and how the welfare state responds to the challenges posed by nationalism. The research questions are answered by drawing on academic literature from political science, sociology, and history. The study provides a comparative analysis of the impact of nationalist ideologies on the welfare state in the three countries. The research reveals that all three countries have been influenced by nationalist ideologies, but there are differences in how these ideologies affect social policy. The historical overview of each country reveals that their welfare state models have been shaped by nationalist ideologies in different ways. The study concludes by summarizing the research findings, their implications, and suggestions for further research. Overall, this thesis highlights the importance of examining the impact of nationalist ideologies on the welfare state for understanding how they shape policies and impact human rights.
