Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: I kommunal hemsjukvård delegeras läkemedelshantering i stor utsträckning till hemtjänstpersonal. För att erhålla en läkemedelsdelegering krävs god kunskap av hemtjänstpersonalen. Sjuksköterskan ansvarar i delegeringsprocessen för bl.a. utbildning, kunskapstest, bredvidgång för den hemtjänstpersonal som ska delegeras. Delegeringsprocessen avseende läkemedelsdelgering behöver kontinuerligt utvecklas. 

Syfte: Syftet var att belysa hemtjänstpersonalens erfarenheter av läkemedelsdelegering.

Metod: 17 semistrukturerade intervjuer av hemtjänstpersonal i olika sektioner i Malmö stad utfördes. Intervjuerna analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. 

Resultat:  Utmynnade i fyra kategorier: läkemedelsdelegering är en nödvändighet, svårigheter i läkemedelshanteringen, organisatoriska faktorer som påverkar läkemedelsdelegering och behov av kompetens.

Slutsats: Genom att identifiera svagheter och behov i delegeringsprocessen angående läkemedelsdelegering kan studiens resultat eventuellt användas i framtida förbättringsarbete. För att säkra patientsäkerheten kring läkemedelshanteringen behövs kompetenshöjning hos hemtjänstpersonalen.

Abstract [en]

Background: In municipal home healthcare, medication management is largely delegated to home care staff. In order to obtain medication delegation, a good knowledge of the home care staff is required. The nurse is responsible in the delegation process for teaching, testing, practical training for the home care staff to be delegated. 

The delegation process regarding medication delegation needs to be continuously developed. 

Aim: The aim of the interview study was to shed light on the home care staff’s experience of medication delegation in municipal home healthcare. 

Method: 17 semi-structured interviews of home care staff in different sections in Malmo city were carried out. The interviews were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. 

Result: The outcome resulted in four categories: medication delegation is a necessity, difficulties in medication management, organizational factors affecting medication delegation and need for competence.

Conclusion: By identifying weaknesses and needs in the delegation process regarding medication delegation, the results of the study can possibly be used in future improvement work. In order to ensure patient safety around the handling of medicines, an increase in the skills of the home care staff is needed.
