The aim of this study was to analyze and deconstruct different discursive coping strategies used by members in the Law of Assumption community to study how the philosophy intends to improve peoples’ lives in adverse times. The covid-19 pandemic - along with restrictions and limitations has created hardships for people worldwide. During the time of the pandemic, popularity in spiritual content on social media has surged. The need for studying discursive coping strategies in spiritual communities and how they help people through adverse times has never been higher. Previous research has studied popular self-help groups AA or Alcoholics Anonymous and NA or Narcotics Anonymous, however, there has not been any research on discursive coping strategies and their effects. Through a quantitative research of Youtube comments, the results of this study show that by reframing negative circumstances through affirmations, the members are gaining a better understanding of their personal values. By repeating affirmations and assuming positive outcomes, they are coping with difficult emotions that may arise while waiting for the positive outcomes to materialize. In addition, by believing that they already have achieved their desires, the members are being taught to disregard self-doubt.
