Abstract [en]

This study focuses on a investigating newly arrived children's experiences in the MalmösSwedish schools regarding social integration in form of social exclusion and discrimination. An area that, in my opinion, has not been investigated enough. The foundation of the thesis isbased on previous research, as well as a theoretical framework. The data is collected througha qualitative method with main focus on in-depth semi-structured interviews with a normativeresearch approach. Two research questions were posed; “Could Malmö do more to integratenewly arrived children in their schools?”, and “Could social integration of newly arrivedchildren lead to discrimination and social exclusion?”. The analysis of this thesis examinesthe data collected, and uses the theoretical frameworks as a foundation to answer the tworesearch questions. Lastly, there is a conclusion that summarizes the thesis in its entirety.
