There are many risk and protective factors that can lead youth to develop or avoid juvient delinquency behavior. The aim of this study is to give an overall picture and highlight which risk and protective factors there are in young peoples lives and how they can avoid such behaviors. This study focuses on different risk and protective factors that can occur under different categories in youths lives. Such as within social enviroment, family, individual and genders. This study is a literature study that is based on reports that are conducted from social services and crime- preventing counsel. It is also based on the following theories: attachment theory, self-control theory and social bond theory as well as previous researches. The results shows that factors such as behavior, relationships and personal characteristics can lead to either an increase of risk factors or protective factor. And that same factors can be seen as both risk and protective in youths lives.
