THE MORAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WORLD’S GREATEST SPORT: A Normative Study of Professional Football Clubs’ Corporate Social Responsibility in the Case of their Players Committing Gender-based Violence

Abstract [en]

This thesis illustrates the moral responsibility which men’s professional football clubs should take on when their male players commit gender-based violence against women. Through an argumentative analysis this thesis presents arguments for and against a moral responsibility of the clubs when their male players commit such crimes. The analysis is based upon the notion of CSR while it applies Martha Nussbaum’s capabilities approach to the responsibilities within men’s football clubs’ CSR. The analysis introduces arguments for and against moral responsibility of CSR as well as the violent and masochistic culture amongst players and fans.
