Malmö University, Faculty of Culture and Society (KS), Department of Global Political Studies (GPS).

Abstract [en]

The paper was designed to analyze the effectiveness of harsher punishment when trying to combat Criminal Child Exploitation in criminal groups. Since Sweden recently introduced and put into force an amendment that allows 18 years old to be sentenced to full life in prison, it was taken as an example of the stricter legislation. The measure was not found to be successful in the analysis, which was done using criteria from the Circles of Analysis. The outcome of the research was a novel recommended policy program aimed at addressing the source of the existing problem of youth joining gangs.
