The purpose of this study has been to investigate how women experience and describe their ADHD symptoms. Furthermore, a closer examination is made of the possible consequences of an undiagnosed or established ADHD diagnosis for women. The method used for the study has consisted of producing a mapping literature review with the support of scientific articles and journals. The results of the collected empirical evidence indicate a number of distinctive consequences. These could be linked to failed schooling, difficulties in social relationships, comorbidity and an increased vulnerability to risky behavior and drug abuse. The conclusion of the study is that women tend to be negatively affected by their ADHD symptoms to a greater extent than men and experience negative consequences in several of life's arenas. One of the most important factors that can be linked to the consequences of the diagnosis is described as the fact that they are women.
