Abstract [en]

Discrimination and segregation are two of all aspects to why immigrants face difficulties to enterthe labour market in Sweden. Immigrants have witnessed to be discriminated against due to lackof educational background or lack of speaking the Swedish language. The aim of the thesis is to analyse documents from the Swedish government and reports from Swedens biggest union; Unionen to investigate to which extent they take the scientific theories human capital and social capital into account. Human capital is mainly connected to education and discrimination while social capital is mainly connected to social network and segregation.

The result is that the government takes the theories into consideration to a large extent while Unionen to a very small extent.
