A data driven application that relies on users to generate content can be seen as an IxD problem space, as it presents questions about trust, motivation, and data. I propose that through a participatory design process in collaboration with Malmö city, FSF and an accessibility website provider, we could contribute to the innovative process of empowering wheelchair users. This research through design process will produce an accessibility map prototype, design principles for engaging with wheelchair users, and models. The trust model displays what is needed by content producers and consumers to trust a user generated content (UGC) platform that is verified by an authority (app provider) versus the user community. The motivation model describes what is needed in terms of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for a wheelchair user to log a location's accessibility. Identifying what is needed in terms of trust and motivation in an accessibility UGC platform, could contribute to more viable UGC applications.
