Miljarder av människor runt om världen använder sin mobiltelefon för att surfa på webben,och under de senaste årtionden har vi sett nya webbteknologier som underlättar utvecklingav mobila webbapplikationer. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka om mobile-firstkommer att bli standarden inför framtiden samt hur ekosystemet för webbutveckling kom-mer att påverkas av detta. Mobile-first innebär att man prioriterar den mobila plattfor-men först, jämfört med den traditionella desktop-plattformen. Utöver detta vill vi ocksåundersöka multiplattformverktyg som progressiva webbapplikationer och hybridapplika-tioner men även responsiv webbdesigns påverkan på webbutvecklingen. Det kommer attgöras två litteraturstudier och en online enkät kommer att skickas ut för att besvara vå-ra forskningsfrågor. Resultatet utifrån våra utvalda metoder resulterade i att mobile-firstsågs vara det arbetssättet man väljer att prioritera för nuläget. Anledningen beror på attmobilanvändare har drastiskt ökat under det senaste årtiondet med lägre priser för mo-biltelefoner och internet telekommunikation vilket har lett till en större marknad av an-vändare. Utöver visar det sig att webbteknologierna som inkluderar hybridapplikationeroch progressiva webbapplikationer fortfarande är outforskade för dem flesta utvecklare.Detta beror exempelvis på brist av intresse från utvecklare eller att de inte är kompa-tibla med verksamhetens system/produkt. Responsiv webbdesign visade sig att vara densom har haft mest inverkan på webbutvecklingen, och är det koncept som är mest bekanthos utvecklare. Definitionen av mobile-first inom litteraturen och online enkäten stäm-de i stort sätt överens med varandra, dock gav litteraturen ett mer väldefinierat svar.

Billions of people around the world use their mobile phone to surf on the web, and in recentdecades, we have seen new web technologies that facilitate the development of mobile webapplications. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether mobile-first will be thestandard for the future and how the ecosystem for web development will be affected by this.Mobile-first means that you prioritize the mobile platform first, compared with the traditio-nal desktop platform. In addition to this, we also want to investigate multi-platform toolssuch as progressive web applications and hybrid applications, but also how responsive webdesign affects web development. We will conduct two literature studies and an online surveywill be sent out to answer our research questions. Based on our selected methods, the resultsindicate that the mobile-first would be the way one chooses to prioritize for the current si-tuation. The reason is that mobile phone users have increased drastically in recent decadesdue to the lower prices of mobile phones, and internet telecommunications that have attrac-ted a larger market of users. In addition, it turns out that the web technologies between hy-brid applications and progressive web applications are still unexplored for most developers.This is due, for example, to a lack of interest in developing or that they are not compatiblewith the business’ system/product. The responsive web design was shown to be the one thathas had the most impact on web development, and is the concept that is the most famili-ar to developers. The definition of mobile-first in the literature and the online survey lar-gely agreed with each other, however, the literature provided a more well-defined answer.
