I den här kunskapsöversikten undersöks frågan huruvida skolans undervisning i de naturvetenskapliga ämnena kan påverka elevers förmågor i scientific literacy och hur deras förhållande till fake news påverkas av undervisningen. I översikten presenteras ett flertal studier som lyfter problematik, begrepp och metoder som berör den aktuella frågeställningen. I studierna undersöktes vilka kriterier som används när en person granskar vetenskapliga nyheter eller texter. Studierna tittade också på vilken typ av undervisning som är effektiv i att utbilda elever i scientific literacy. Studierna visade att skolans roll i hur hög grad av scientific literacy en person uppnår senare i livet är svagare än vad forskare först antog. Däremot visade studierna att med rätt metoder och fokus kan skolan komma att bli en viktigare faktor och att den kan ha effekt på hur elever förhåller sig till fake news.

In this knowledge overview, I examine whether the school's teaching in the natural science subjects can influence pupils' abilities in scientific literacy and how their relationship to fake news is influenced by the teaching. The overview presents a number of studies that highlight problems, concepts and methods that affect the current issue. The studies examine which criteria are used when a person reviews scientific news or texts. The studies also looks at what form of teaching is effective in educating pupils in scientific literacy. The studies showed that the role of the school in how high of a degree of scientific literacy a person achieves later in life is weaker than what researchers first assumed. However, the studies also suggests that, with the right methods and focus, the school can become a more important factor and that it can have an effect on how students relate to fake news.
